BT Fibre 2 cost

BT Fibre 2 is more expensive compared to similar plans from TalkTalk, Plusnet, Sky, and Virgin Media. A one-off setup fee may apply. Line rental is included in the cost, but call plans will cost extra.

BT plans have 24-month long-term contracts, while competitors offer shorter options, like 18-month or 12-month contracts.

What is included in BT Fibre 2?

BT Fibre 2 and phone package includes standard features such as a Smart Hub WiFi router and home phone line rental. It offers PAYG (Pay As You Go) calls at a flat rate. Landline features like online billing and caller ID are provided free of charge.

If you prefer broadband without a home phone, BT also offers a Fibre 2 broadband only plan. This gives you more flexibility in choosing the right plan for your needs.

BT provides a service guarantee called the ‘Stay Fast Guarantee‘. This ensures you receive a minimum speed or you can get £20 back. When you sign up, BT will give you speed estimates based on your address and postcode. This helps you understand the expected performance of your broadband connection.

BT offers some exclusive extras to its broadband customers. These free extras make their service more attractive and valuable.

BT customers can use BT WiFi hotspots for free. This means you can connect to the internet in many public places without using your mobile data.

BT offers free cloud storage of 1000GB. This helps you back up your files and keep them safe.

BT also offers parental controls and Virus Protect. This includes McAfee Anti-virus protection for up to 15 devices. This helps you keep your devices safe from online threats and allows you to control the content your children can access.

BT Fibre 2 Router

Fibre 2 comes with a Smart Hub router at no extra cost. The Smart Hub is designed to provide your home with a strong WiFi signal, faster, more reliable speeds and wider coverage. It features next-generation 802.11ac WiFi bands, 7 antennas, 4 Gigabit connections, and built-in 4G filters.

BT Smart Hub

Its built-in features like automatic channel selection, smart scanning, and the latest WiFi technology make it one of the great routers that offer the best WiFi performance.

Difference between Smart Hub and Smart Hub 2

The latest Smart Hub 2 is a more advanced router with an added feature – Complete Wi-FI for faster speeds in every room of your home. You can also manage it more easily with the My BT App.

Smart Hub 2 is designed for full fibre broadband to handle lightning speeds and deliver faster WiFi speeds. It is included with BT Plus or can be purchased.

BT Fibre 2 vs Fibre 1

BT Fibre 2 provides faster download and upload speeds compared to Fibre 1. Both packages come with useful features that cater to various user needs. These features include unlimited usage, Smart Hub, and BT Virus Protect as standard.

However, Fibre 2 customers also receive more Cloud storage, which is an added advantage. Both plans are suitable for different types of users.

If you require faster speeds for tasks like 4K streaming, online gaming, or working from home, Fibre 2 is the better option. On the other hand, Fibre 1 is ideal for lighter internet use, such as browsing, HD streaming and occasional gaming.

BT Fibre 1 is a more affordable choice that can help you save money. This is important for users who are budget-conscious or do not need the additional speed and features offered by Fibre 2.

In summary, while Fibre 2 offers faster speeds and extra Cloud storage, it is essential to evaluate your specific needs and budget before choosing the right plan for your household.

Fibre Essential vs Fibre 2

BT Fibre Essential is a more basic option compared to Fibre 1 and Fibre 2. It offers a slower speed of 36 Mb/s, which is suitable for basic internet usage like browsing, emailing and streaming.

This plan comes with the Hub 5, an older router with fewer features compared to the Smart Hub provided with Fibre 1 and Fibre 2 plans.

The Fibre Essential package also lacks some standard features found in the other two plans. For example, it does not include Virus Protect and free online storage. These features are useful for ensuring online safety and storing important files in the cloud.

When considering the savings, the BT Fibre Essential plan may not offer significant benefits compared to Fibre 1 or Fibre 2. Although it is cheaper, the reduced speed and limited features might not be sufficient for the needs of many users.

In conclusion, while BT Fibre Essential provides a more budget-friendly option, it is important to evaluate your internet requirements and weigh the trade-offs between speed, features, and cost. If you need faster speeds or additional features like Virus Protect and online storage, it may be worth considering Fibre 1 or Fibre 2 instead.
